These sessions are a great opportunity for juniors to meet each other in a fun and friendly environment. Participants will learn the fundamentals of golf and put into practice what they learn. All aspects of the game are covered.
The cost is $15 a session thanks to the Maurie Neilsen Foundation and open to all juniors aged 12-17.
First session: Sunday 4th August
Time: 9:30am – 11:30am
Equipment: Supplied if required
What to wear: Whatever you feel comfortable swinging a golf club in.

Sporting Facilities Insights Survey Help – Shape our Future
Thursday June 13, 2024
Dear Club Members and Supporters
We want to hear from you. We are writing to you today to seek your support and input as we implement an exciting initiative at the club. We have engaged Club Builder 2035 to run a Sporting Facilities Insights Survey. Survey link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HW72N9K
The survey will better understand our facilities as we plan for the future of the club. The survey and the resultant Insights Report will provide the Board with clear insights into the thoughts, hopes and concerns of our members and stakeholders. It is critical to the planning process that we hear your thoughts and views. Accordingly, Club Builder have prepared an online survey to capture your thoughts around some key questions about the club.
We ask that all members, supporters and anyone that has an interest in the future of the club, takes the time to click through to the survey and provide your input. The survey will take approximately fifteen minutes to complete BUT the insights that you provide will provide benefit to the club both this year and beyond. Please note that the survey responses will go directly to Club Builder and no-one from the Board or club management will be able to see your responses.
Club Builder will provide an anonymous summary of the survey results in a Strategic Insights Report. So, please feel comfortable to be open and honest in your responses. To complete the survey, please click on the following link:

SCRAMBLE EVENT UPDATE
On Sunday Colac Hosted a strong field of 100 players in our annual Scramble Event.
The course was well prepared considering the amount of rain that fell over the 3 days prior, and with 25 teams vying for a spot in the Reginal Finals competition was fierce.
Two of the top three teams were local club members which was great to see.
Runners-up on a countback with a score of 59.5 nett were club members Adrian and Will Murphy, Richard Dinatale and Vince Larosa pictured below.
We had 28 clubs represented for the event, and the winning team encompassed the diversity of clubs represented. With a great score of 57.375 nett the winners were Andrew Gibson, Damien McMaster, Luke Saunders, and Sam Eilken (From Torquay, Lake Bolac and SGA).
We wish them all the best as they try to qualify at the Regional Finals with our Club Professional Michael in October.
Sadly we came up just short of sending a second team to the regional finals, we would love to make this happen next year so be sure to consider playing in our next event!
COLAC GOLF CLUB LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD
Peter Custs speech on presenting a life membership to CGG’s Ron McCann at the recent AGM
“I’ve been asked to give you an insight into the work that Ron has contributed to the Colac Golf Club over the last 43 years. Ron’s first experience here was around 1979 when he played in a local fire brigade day. The golfing bug must have bitten him there and then as he joined up in 1980.
In 1981 Ron, Bill O’Brien and Jim Beckett formed the Colac Golf Club Social Club. This included many fundraising activities including raffles, social golf days and various events. These also included Saturday night raffles when the clubhouse was full to the brim after a day’s golf. Ron assisted with any maintenance and general duties within the clubhouse.
In 1984-85 Ron assisted Maurie Nelson with the coaching of junior golfers on a Sunday morning. Darren Cook, Troy Kincaid, Mick Tyers, Chris Milverton, Paul Hanson, Craig Spence and also Ron’s son Carl were just some of them. From 8am until 12midday there could be as many as 50 young players receiving their help. Ron represented the club for around seven years playing pennant golf and was the captain of a winning division 4 team.
Ron retired from work in 2009 and immediately joined the now famous Dad’s Army crew. Every Monday morning, he would up at the club on the roughs mower, emptying bins, picking up debris after storms and whatever else was required. Ron has indicated he will contribute in any way he can in the future. He does not want pats on the back or too much credit because his love for the club is first and foremost.
After nearly four and half decades Ron has given the club around 5000 hours of his own time which equates to around 620 eight-hour days. To you Ron on behalf of every member past and present, well done, congratulations and thank you.”
